Even though Michael is not a current Reed parent, he showed up for our school and community, spending countless hours helping families navigate a process many felt was rushed and flawed. He listened, helped parents understand the district process, and consistently advocated for transparency and accountability.

What stood out most was that Michael was never advocating for just one school or one neighborhood. He focused on what was best for all students and families impacted across the district. Michael leads with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to public education, and our schools deserve leadership that listens, engages, and fights for what is right.

The SJUSD Schools of Tomorrow process has been one of the most difficult challenges our community has faced, and Michael Melillo has been an invaluable guide throughout. Michael Melillo is exactly the kind of person who should be a San Jose Unified Board Trustee. In my 13 years of working with him, he always comes prepared for whatever issue we are facing. His ability to provide data that gives a full picture and get that across clearly to large groups of people is amazing. More amazing is his passion to help make things better, especially in his community.
